9PM-6AM

Last night was a huge event at the Dunagan house! Adam slept from 9PM until 6AM! Can you believe it? We are thrilled! I am still in shock. Knock on wood that this pattern continues! What a great night.

We actually started Adam on some formula this past week and it seems to sit well with him. I really pray that this continues. He has been so happy too! I mean he has been laughing and playing and even able to lay on the floor by himself and play. Again, hopefully this all continues and it wasn't just a great week! But if it was, we are so thankful for the great week at Thanksgiving!

Adam updates

Well, as parents we have really realized how much Adam 'needs' tummy time. Yet, he has hated it the entire time so we haven't given it to him much. He wails and wails until he is red faced and tears just stream down. So heartbreaking. Anyway, he will roll over if we place his hands in the right position. We are just waiting on him to learn it all on his own.

He has become more and more interested in toys. Up until now, he hates being put down and has had nothing to do with toys on a blanket. Recently, he will at least lay for a few minutes and is a little interested in a duck rattle, an elephant rattle and he loves a monkey that has a digital photo frame in it that was given to him by his cousin Peyton.

Despite him being fairly fussy, he is BEAUTIFUL beyond words!!!!!

not much going on

Not much is going on but thought I would post. Adam is growing like crazy and he looks so good! He is being a little fussy this morning. He is so cute. He likes to sit up straight or stand. But he hates tummy time. He might just go straight to standing instead of crawling. He has such a personality. I promise he is fussy because he is hard headed and wants something but can't get it. He already wants to just go go go but he can't independantly. I think he gets upset because we have to help him. After all, he is only 3 months old!

His 1st Halloween just came and went. We didn't really do anything. Next year should be fun though. He should be old enough then.

We are enjoying the cooler weather. We love Fall!

Until next time....

Adam receives a visit from his friend, Cody

On Tuesday, Adam's friend, Cody Greenwalt and mom's friend, Amber came to visit! We had a blast! Amber and I talked about our beautiful babies and really it is amazing how similar they are. Even in looks! Cody is so cute! He does massive log rolls all over the floor. If he sees his favorite toy.......he will go for it! Such a big boy! I enjoyed our time and can't wait for Adam to go see Cody at his house.

Back from Wilmington

Brent, Adam and I are back from Wilmington, DE/Chadds Ford, PA. Adam did OUTSTANDING on the trip! Seriously! People on the plane even said so. He did really well on the plane ride up. He did fantastic walking around in the Baby Bjorn while touring the Liberty Bell. He showed off for Brent's manager at dinner and did good on the plane ride back! (CAR SEATS are a different story!)

We are so glad to be home! There is no place like Texas.

Things not told!

I have to say, Adam is the most beautiful baby! I promise, when he sleeps he looks like an angel straight from heaven and to me....he is! (now I do have friends who have some beautiful babies but I am a little partial)

With that said, there are some little secrets that my parent friends were keeping from me! Really, you all let me believe it was all a bed of roses! I understand that these little ones are worth it but man some days are tough! I don't know how some of my friends went back to work!

Adam definately has a fussy stage and I have no idea why! Around week 6,7,8,9 were great! I had figured out his pattern/schedule! Give me a routine and I can do it. If he wants to wake up at 2AM for the next year....I can do it as long as the pattern is the same! But you add fussing to it like crazy during the day b/c you are going through a growth spurt and I am going crazy! This new fuss stage is just new for me. Before there was a method to the madness....EAT, Awake, FUSS, sleep. EAT, Awake, Fuss, sleep. Now fuss can be thrown in at anytime and the smile awake period can be interupted at any second! I do believe he is in a growth spurt and hopefully, he will get a new pattern down soon and be happy with his new increase in ounces!
I guess until the next growth spurt............

Adam sleeping

We had 3 nights where we put Adam down around 9ish (after eating) and he slept until 4,5 or 6AM. But this week he reverted back to getting up at his normal 1:30 or 3:30AM time frame. Last night, we all had a late night visiting our friends, Jeff & Steph. Adam ate around 10PM and slept in his car seat home and remained asleep when we moved him to his crib and woke up around 5AM a little fussy. I picked him up and he fell asleep in my arms, so I took a cat nap with him until about 6:30AM when I finally fed him. Not sure if pushing his feed/sleep time is good or not. I just figured if he goes back to sleep and I can get a little more then I am not going to shove a bottle in his mouth until I have to. Hopefully, I am not scarring him for life just so I can get a few minutes of sleep! :) jk

Dad came home

Brent has been out of town all week in Mexico. Adam and I faired well but it was so much fun picking him up from the airport!

Welcome back home!!!
Love, Amber and Adam

Adam is 2 months old

Wow, how time flys! Adam is already 2 months old and looks like a big boy at times! He holds his head up fairly well and looks around. He really looks cute from the back. You can see his long hair in the back and he looks so alert. He is smiling at you if you sit there and make faces at him long enough and if lucky, he will let out a laugh/cooooo! That is by far one of my favorite times. Although, I have to say that when I get up and have to feed him at night when he is still sleepy and his eyes are still so tired looking......that is my favorite time. He will just cuddle up with me and I love it when he leans against me and starts to go back to sleep.

With that said, he has had 3 night so far where he has slept until 4,5&6AM!!! Whoo hooo! But last night he went back to waking up at 1:30AM. We will see what he does tonight! Wouldn't it be great if he started his routine/schedule of sleeping through the night at 2 months???? Such a good baby!

Such a good baby

We took Adam to the Oil Ranch today. Brent had a meeting to see if Dupont wanted to do a company picnic there. I was so glad that I actually put a baseball outfil with a hat on him today. It was amazing how much good that little baseball hat did for him! Then, we went to dinner at Luby's. Brent and I took turns eating while the other fed Adam. Adam once again did so good. After that, we really needed to go grocery shopping so we went to HEB. Adam fussed for about 30 seconds...which is AMAZING for him. After that, he fell asleep in his car seat and slept all the way through the shopping experience and all the way home! You have to know....that was great for Adam because he has become a little bit of a fussy baby! He definately has that stage. If Adam were older, he would have received a prize from us because he did so good. We are very proud parents.

MISSING CAT

I have some very sad news to report. Our cat, Okie, went missing after Adam was born! You may remember him from one of our Christmas cards as the cat that was hissing at our dog, Maggie. Okie has been with us since 2003. I miss him so much and think of him often! Especially during the hurricane, he was on my thoughts constantly. If you don't mind, please pray that Okie is safe and even better, can you pray that he finds his way home! I am so sad for him! He has always been a mamma's cat! Please pray he comes home!!!!

Recent week

Today is Monday and Brent, Adam and I are enjoying our day of nothing. Brent worked from home today and it was nice having him home. This past Friday, we went to visit our friends, Jeff and Steph at Lake Conroe! We had such a relaxing visit! Our dogs played and Adam was on his semi-best behavior (besides his fuss time and peeing on thier blanket). The guys went fishing and caught our dinner.....catfish! Yummy!

We can't wait to do it again soon!

Adam's first visit to church

Adam had his first visit to church this week! He was so good. Actually, good is not the word, he was excellent! We all had just a great time. Our friends, Jeff and Steph met us there. Adam really loved it! We can't wait to go back. The unfortunate thing is that it takes ALOT to load Adam up and get to church on time. Sunday school is at 9:30 and we have to leave the home by 8:30 to get there on time. That is tough so we just made the 11:00 church service. I am sure once Adam is sleeping.......well, once we are able to sleep we will be able to load him up for Sunday school. I will post a picture later. I didn't take the camera so I had to take it on the cell phone. Once I figure out how to download the pics from the camera to the computer, I will post them.

Hurricane update

Well, we stayed at Brent's Dad's house 2 days after the hurricane because he had power. I think it was a little much for Baby Adam. We think the pressure of the storm made him a little fussy and I could boil bottles for so long. So we went to Granddad's on Sunday. What a great time we had at Granddad Dunagan's. We received power on Wednesday and loaded back up and came home. Posted are a few before and after pictures during the hurricane and also some of Adam.

We are so fortunate to be home!

Surviving Ike!

Well, we haven't blogged in a while because of Hurricane Ike! We are doing well. Went to stay with familiy after spending 2 nights without electricity. That was hard with a newborn! Boiling bottles only lasted so long. Brent cleaned up the entire yard after TONS of limbs/trees trashed it! We are finally going home today. (Wednesday)

Pictures will follow.

Adam celebrates his 1 month birthday

Well, on August 31st, Adam celebrated his one month birthday. We went to his MiMi and PopPop's for dinner and ice cream cake! Adam is growing so fast.....yes, hitting those growth spurts and I worry I am feeding him to much! I know we need to take in every single second because these days will go by so fast and one day we will wish them all back! Pictures will follow!

Praise: Last night, Adam slept for 4 hours straight, ate and slept for another 4 hours straight! Praise-a-lujah! (however, right now he is WIDE eyed and blink blink blink....not sure what tonight will look like, but we are hopeful)

Until next time!

Adam visits Magnolia Junior High

On Friday, Adam made his first visit to all our friends at Magnolia Junior High! We had such a good time visiting all our friends. We even had a nice surprise when we headed down to the gym and all my old athletes greeted us with cheers! They have grown so much just over the summer! They are now 8th graders. Adam and I are looking forward to watching their 8th grade season of volleyball, basketball and track. I am probably one of those girls biggest fans! I look forward to seeing how they progress as athletes!

Normal is Fantastic

Today, Adam had his 2 week pediatrician appointment. We are so thrilled to report that Adam is Average...Normal...in the 50th percentile for his weight and height! YEA! We are thrilled b/c at his 1st pedi appt. he had lost more than 10% of his birth weight and that is always of concern. We were put on a supplement routine and by the next day he had almost gained a pound. (which does actually make us wonder if that 1st weight was correct) Anyway, if you don't know my personality, I worry about everything. I went from worrying that he didn't have enough to eat to worrying that we were supplementing too much. Needless to say, when the results all came back normal.....I was thrilled. Even our bulldog of a doctor said she was very happy! YEA ADAM! Good report!

After the doctor appointment, we took Adam up to Dupont to show some co-workers. Adam enjoyed his visit and Mom sure enjoyed being out of the house. :) I sure started to feel a little couped up. After that we did decide to go out to grab a bite to eat. We went to a place that seemed very clean and we took a sunny booth in the back corner of the restaurant and we were left alone there. Dad and I just sat and visited with each other while admiring our son and how good he was doing! What a great outing!

Adam has his 1st playdate!

Yesterday, Adam had his first playdate with his friend, Cody Austin Greenwalt. They were so adorable together. Our friends, Jeff and Amber came to visit from Bastrop, Texas with their bundle of joy, Cody. Amber and I were 2 weeks apart from each other in due dates but Cody came a little early and as you know, Adam came a little late which puts them about a month apart. That won't seem like much when we all start fishing and camping together. We are hoping they form a lifelong friendship and will enjoy the same things their fathers do. Camping, fishing and bluebell!!

Bundle of Joy

We are almost reaching Adam's 2 week old birthday! He has been just a joy. I just mentioned to my Mom how I never really understood the actual meaning when people said 'bundle of joy' until we received our absolute bundle of joy! We just can't believe the miracle the Lord has blessed us with. Brent said the other day how God made us wait to receive this perfect, beautiful child and Adam was worth the wait!

Adam seems to be getting stronger everyday! His awake time is increasing which we are enjoying. (except at night) :) He has his 2 week pediatrician appointment on Thursday. We are looking forward to seeing what she says about his progression and what to do from here.

5 days old

Adam is now a 5 days old and a few hours! What a JOY! I can not say that enough! The entire experience was a joy! It is amazing to love someone soooo much that you just met!

Adam was born on Thursday, July 31st at 5:39AM. He weighed 7lbs. 10oz. and was 20 inches long!

We have enjoyed our first 5 days with him! They have been non-stop busy!

We appreciate all the love and support all of our family and friends have provided! Thank you all!

Up until now

Hey! Brent and I have been married for a little more than 4 1/2 years. We were married December 6, 2003! It was a beautiful winter day and we had the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to in my entire life! The church was beautiful, my dress was perfect, the sun was shining, the reception hall was festive! We took our vows around 6PM in the evening right after the sun set with candles glowing in the window seals of the church! Christmas lights were lit all over the church. The ceremony was by far both Brent and my favorite part!

The only thing we really would have done differently was have the night last forever! Seriously, we enjoyed the reception and do wish that we had spent more time at the reception and could have had more time visiting with our guests!

We have lived in Magnolia, Texas from the first day of marriage. We live on 2 acres with a fishing pond in the back and without sounding vain......most people who visit our home LOVE it! We have to say, we agree with them. We have made this house a home for ourselves.

We have had our fawn colored cat, Okie, since before we were married. He was a gift from Brent's grandfather. We named him Okie because that is where he is from - Oklahoma! Okie has been a "mamma's cat" his whole life and I love him! Our 2nd pet is a beautiful white cat, Hollie. (name given b/c she was given at Christmas and so we named her Hollie for Holly Berries) She has pink ears and was my wedding night present from my husband! Soooooooo sweet! Who would have thought to give a white cat to their spouse for a wedding gift but it was the best gift I could have received! She is a tiny cat and is so cute! Our last pet is a true member of our family and that is our sweet dog, Maggie! (named b/c we live in Magnolia) We found Maggie abandoned at a local shop in town. She was just sitting in a pen wagging her tail with her floppy ears and blue eyes just starring at us! What a HUGE decision that was to take her home! Especially since we were leaving on a weeks vacation that day and could not bring her. We decided to take on the challenge and Maggie has been worth it! Man, her puppy stages almost sent her back to an SPCA or something but I am so glad we stuck with her. She has become so loyal and so loving! I can't express the happiness and joy this silly little dog with one brown floppy ear and one spotted floppy ear has brought us!!!!! And if I think that.........I can't imagine the happiness that this child we are about to have will bring to our lives.
